Faith and Food

Storms will come and go in this life. I have learned the hard way to endure and not be set back and when and if I fall, to get back up. This can apply to a lot of areas in a believers life. I never thought in a million years that I could also apply it to my eating habits. I do want to tell you that eating is not a sin. Unhealthy eating is a sin in my book.  I know its different for everyone and we are not in the same place.  I was one hundred pounds overweight and my physical health was at risk.  I have lost 61 pounds since August of this year and plan to get to my goal weight!!!

I never in my life thought that the way I view sin and the storms of my life would apply to me losing weight. My eating habits is one area of my life I have not allowed God to have complete control of. My weight has fluctuated through out my adult years. There is so much easy access to find foods with high carbohydrates, but very difficult to become carb conscious, but I am living proof that it is possible. God can give you the faith to see it through!!!

It is very convenient to have a "drive through" mentality with the rest of the world, just the way you want it. Since I have been out on my own I have never been one to learn to cook a healthy meal. I always just went to a fast food joint as a easy option. God has set us a part from the world to be different and make changes as He reveals His will to us.

A keto diet is much like the Dr. Atkins diet. You stay under 20 carbs a day to get your body in a state of ketosis, which means your body automatically burns its own fat. There is nothing unhealthy about it. My doctor supports it as well.  After about 2 months I went and got bloodwork done. My levels were better than I have been in many years.

Yes I am on a KETO Kick!! If you have heard of the Ketogenic Diet you know what I am talking about.  I have learned food can be your best friend or your worst enemy. in my case it was my enemy of the worst kind!!!

I am learning what foods (and drinks) work for me and which doesn't. 

I am learning to take it take it one meal at a time.

I have learned that just like everything we face in this life, you have got to bounce back when you mess up. 

I allow myself to have a cheat meal every now and then.  I know my weakness and I steer away from those types of foods as best as I can. 

I had to allow God to help me become carb conscious, that is the only thing that has got me 61 pounds lighter. I have 60 more to go to be at my goal weight. 

"I don't allow my life's setbacks to be a setup to not win the fight!!"  

In any area we face as a Believer in Jesus, our true enemy, the devil will disguise himself in anyway that He can to cause us to have setbacks.  The way I see it is Satan will try to set us up to give up and live defeated in sin! He will work in any area of our life, yes even as a believer in Jesus, to lead us into a defeated lifestyle. God has called us to live not as the world lives.

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Romans 12:2

 I pray this message helps others to see things from God's perspective. It is a mountain that can be moved by Faith.  I can not believe the changes I see in my life...combining my faith with my food issues!!!

    1. Thanks! 2018 has been a great year for me of change and growth for me as God has helped me step out in faith in many areas. I pray that my blog will be a help to other believers.
